How do I hire a hat?
Go to the 'Collections' page on the menu, find the hat you wish to hire. Find the hat you would like to enquire about and/or hire and take note of the name. Then phone or email us and we will send you the contract to sign and payment details.
How/when will I receive my hat?
Hats will be posted a few days before your occasion using Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed. This service guarantees your hat to be there the next day. You may also pick your hat up from us personally. At the bigger race meetings we will be offering a daily pick-up/drop-off service.
Can I come and try a hat on and pick it up instead?
Of course! We are based in central Newmarket Suffolk (CB88LR) and our opening times can be found on the homepage. Please note we operate on an appointment only basis. Please book your appointment on our home page. You are welcome to bring any friends with you and please bring your outfit as we can find a beautiful hat to match it. We work against a Dulux Colour Chart to try and be as precise as possible whilst colour matching for online hat hire. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you need help.
What if I lose or damage my hired hat?
All hats are sent by Royal Mail Special Recorded Delivery; therefore they are tracked. If you lose or damage your hat you will lose your deposit and will be liable for the full hat cost, hire charge and loss of deposit.
Is postage included in the price shown?
No. You will have to pay the return postage which is Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed which allows us to track the hats. This service is £9.95 and we require you to send us a picture/copy of the tracking number as you send it. If you fail to do this and the hat does not arrive back; you will be liable for the full hat cost, ire charge and will lose your deposit. WE ONLY HIRE HATS WITHIN THE UK.
How long can I rent a hat for and can I take it abroad?
Hats will be sent out a couple days before your occasion by Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed (next day) The hats are to be returned/posted the day after your occasion unless otherwised agreed with us. If the hat does not return within 5 days of the return date you will lose your deposit and be liable for the full hat cost. For the bigger meetings such as: Royal Ascot, Newmarket Guineas and July Festival the hats will tend to be hired on a daily basis to be picked up and dropped off at the racecourse daily. You can rent hats for longer periods of time, but prices shown are for one occasion only. We will try to be as flexible as possible regarding hat hire abroad.
General Hire Info
Hire costs range from £10 to £70 (Excluding return postage)
We will post your hired hat once we have received cleared payment and you have accepted the T+Cs of Hire.
Hats will be sent by Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed; which sends valuable or urgent items to clinets by 1pm the next working day. The benefits include:online proof of delivery, online tracking and signature on delivery.
Hat boxes must be returned or you will be charged an additional £15.
The hirer will be asked to accept the T+CS at the time of booking; you will be agreeing to the following: If the hired hat is lost or damaged (including dents, decoration, water colour damage) then the hirer will be liable to pay the wholesale price of the hat, the hire charge & lose their deposit.
The cost will be payable to Stephanie King by the hirer if this occurs.
At Royal Ascot, The Guineas (1000 & 2000) and the July Festival (Newmarket) we will be offfering a same day pick up and drop off service at the racecourse. Details can be sent to you if you require a hat for any of these meetings.
Hire duration is for 5 days, if the hat does not return within this period an additional hire charge will be charged. (Excluding big race meetings)
Credit card details are taken as a form of deposit and will only be charged after discussion with the hirer and Racing Hat Hire.
Cancellation of hat hire should be made approx. one month before the occasion to ensure a refund.
Please take care whilst wearing one of our hired hats. Please try to stay under an umbrella if it rains.
